About The Program
This program is a 4-week study abroad experience for students around the world interested in taking general courses with a Scottish flavor over summer. Each course includes an educational trip to Scottish destinations to bring the textbook curriculum to life. Stirling is a historic city in the center of the country where the Lowlands and Highlands meet. It features the classic Scottish highlights – a medieval castle, Renaissance churches, and cobblestone streets, and it’s an excellent base for exploring the broader countryside, towns, and villages of Scotland. The program welcomes you with traditional Scottish hospitality; you’ll enjoy airport transfer service, a sports center membership, dedicated 24-hour support team, and a complete calendar of social activities to embrace Scottish culture, history, and traditions. At the end of the program, you’ll participate in a celebratory farewell Ceilidh, the traditional Scottish dance and the highlight of the summer according to past students.
WHERE YOU'LL STUDY
The International Summer School is hosted on the University of Stirling campus, and classes are held in various buildings. Between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Stirling is considered the Gateway to the Highlands, featured in many shows, movies, and literature, including Game of Thrones and Outlander. The University of Stirling campus is north of the city of Stirling on a beautifully green 300+ acres—complete with its own loch and castle to finish off the picture-perfect Scottish scenery. As Scotland’s university of sporting excellence, you can enjoy the state-of-the-art sports center used by Scottish Olympians. The campus also has a cinema, an art collection with rotating exhibits and regular events, plus cafés, a pharmacy, and a small supermarket. This program’s class sizes are small, and you’ll be studying with international students as you explore the landscapes and sites of Scotland on educational trips built into the curriculum. Each class module is designed specifically for the International Summer School and is unique to the University of Stirling. The city of Stirling is just 10 minutes away by bus or bike or a 40-minute stroll.
