About The Program
Resting on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Rabat is truly a feast for the senses. In this temperate North African climate, terraced gardens yield baskets of neon-colored spices. Hot labyrinthine streets and outdoor marketplaces lead to cool courtyards scented with orange and mint. Both French and Arabic are official languages in the capital city. In addition to Arabic language study, guest lectures, field trips, homestay living, and excursions enhance cultural studies. You can also choose elective courses in English while experiencing the multilingual environment. A multi-day excursion to quiet Fez and bustling Marrakesh introduces two of the best cities for Moroccan street food.
Where you'll study
You’ll take courses at the CIEE study center located in Agdal, an urban neighborhood of Rabat with easy access to public transportation. The secure, multi-story building includes an office, classroom space, and a room for extracurricular activities like yoga and tea time. You have full use of the kitchen with a gas stove and access to shops on the ground floor. The vibe is casual and relaxed and students typically leave their backpacks and yoga mats in the middle of the office center. The long classroom has plenty of natural light from the windows and bench seats with traditional Moroccan pillows. You’ll travel in the comfortable CIEE van on group activities and excursions.
