Where you'll study

You’ll be taking a Spanish language class and seminar at the Becari Language School in downtown Oaxaca. The school is just a few blocks from the main square and serves as the meeting place for tours and activities. In addition to UC students, locals of all ages—from young children to retirees—come to this school for the language and cultural learning such as cooking, dancing, and weaving. During the service portion of the program, you’ll be working at an NGO, hospital, or clinic. The provider for this segment is Child Family Health International (CFHI). In Oaxaca, CFHI partners with other NGOs, children’s centers, shelters, and primary healthcare centers, to organize clinical rotations and community-based global health education.
