What's Included

UCEAP estimates include UC tuition, round-trip airfare, housing, meals, program excursions and activities, passport and visa fees, books, supplies, and other living expenses like laundry or metro tickets.

UCEAP estimates do not include UC campus fees, graduate student fees, or tuition for non-California residents. Use the cost calculator below to include these variables and get a more accurate estimate customized to you.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR ESTIMATE

Select each status in the cost calculator to get your customized estimate. You can use this estimate for financial aid advising and to plan a budget for study abroad programs.

Tip: If any terms are not listed under Choose Your Package—for instance spring or winter—it means current estimates are not yet available. Check back in November to see a customized estimate for those terms.

Where’s my Campus?

UCEAP is available only to registered, University of California students. If your UC campus isn’t listed, it may be ineligible for this program. Check UCEAP’s Program Builder to find programs for your campus (select UC Campus from the filter options).

Determining Residency

There are four requirements you must fulfill to be considered a California resident by UC. If you lived in California more than a year before enrolling at UC, you’re most likely a resident. If you’re unsure, see UC’s residency requirements.

How Residency Affects Tuition

Your residency status with UC affects your tuition, whether you are on campus in California or abroad with UCEAP. If you are currently paying out-of-state tuition, those fees will still apply while abroad. Why? Because UCEAP retains your UC enrollment—there is no break in attendance. As a result, your UC tuition stays the same, too. Learn more about residency at UC.

Graduate Students

UCEAP collects graduate and professional fees on behalf of your UC campus while you’re abroad. This affects the overall cost of the program. Contact your graduate advisor and UCEAP finance for more information.

Tip: Before calculating the cost, check the eligibility for this program to make sure it’s open to graduate students. You can find programs for graduate students using UCEAP’s Program Builder (select Class Level > Graduate from the filter options).

Why Isn’t my Package Listed?

This is a new tool, powered by current estimates. If accurate costs are not yet available—for instance for spring/winter of next year—they will not be published. Costs for all packages will be available on the website in November.

What’s a Package?

A program package identifies the term of study and any features unique to that term. For example, a package may offer an optional language program, a unique academic focus, or an internship or research component.
