UCEAP Stands in Solidarity with Asian American and Pacific Islander Communities

The University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) is committed to inspiring students to explore and transform their lives, UC, and the world. Part of that commitment stems from our unwavering support of the people who make our communities great. We struggle to find adequate words to express the level of sadness, frustration, and anger felt upon hearing about not only the innocent lives taken, lives that were targeted due to their race and gender in Georgia but increasing incidents of violence against Asian Americans across the country.

Hatred, racism, and misogyny must be named, confronted, and unlearned. The international educational experiences that UCEAP provides gives students a cultural context for thinking about themselves and others. These timeless lessons give rise to humility, tolerance, and acceptance.

To members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, UCEAP stands in solidarity with you. We hear you. We see you. We value you. We are with you.
