There are two types of awards offered by UCEAP available once you return from study abroad.

UCEAP Internship Awards recognize students who have distinguished themselves while acquiring career training and workplace skills on a study abroad program. Awards are offered semi-annually for internships in all disciplines.

Award

$750

Eligibility

To be considered for an award, you must:

  • Have participated in a professional internship—for credit or not for credit—in any academic discipline while abroad on a UCEAP program.
  • Apply by the application deadline directly following the term in which you completed your internship abroad.

To apply, you will submit the following:

  • A reflective essay (between 1,000-1,500 words)
  • Three to five photos or a video
  • A sample of your completed work

When you have those materials, submit your application.

UCEAP Undergraduate Research Awards recognize undergraduate students who have conducted exceptional research while studying abroad. Awards are offered annually for research projects in all disciplines.

Award

$1,000 to $1,500

Eligibility

To be considered for an award, you must:

  • Be an undergraduate from any UC campus
  • Be a former or current UCEAP participant
  • Have conducted research in any academic discipline as an undergraduate student in a UCEAP program
  • Have completed a final paper or project on that research by the end of the spring term
  • Have been enrolled at a UC campus within six months of the application deadline

To apply, you will submit the following:

  • A student statement addressing the following:
    • Program description (approximately one page)
    • Project description (approximately two pages)
    • Education abroad experience (approximately one page)
  • A faculty recommendation letter
  • Project output (optional, but encouraged)
  • Photo and/or video (also optional, also encouraged)
