The free Navigating Reentry course is a five-module online experience designed to help UC students leverage the study abroad experience in a private, pressure-free way.
What's the course about?
Navigating Reentry is an interactive online course designed specifically to help UC returnees leverage their experiences – personally and professionally – after studying abroad.
You’ll find practical techniques and reflection activities curated by career advisors, mental health staff, recruiters and hiring managers. The course was created with significant input from UC returnees, including true reentry stories, examples, and quotes.
Why Take the Navigating Reentry Course?
- Turn your experiences into compelling stories. Learn a framework for articulating what you learned abroad in ways that resonate with employers, graduate schools, and your own personal growth.
- Identify the skills you actually gained. It's easy to say study abroad "changed you," but can you name the specific skills you developed? This course helps you pinpoint transferable abilities like adaptability, cross-cultural communication, and problem-solving.
- Get study abroad-specific career guidance. Generic career advice doesn't always apply to international experiences. Learn how to leverage your time abroad in job applications, interviews, and networking conversations.
- Update your professional materials with confidence. Refresh your LinkedIn profile, resume, and CV to showcase your international experience effectively—not just as a line item, but as a competitive advantage.
- Re-acclimate with support from mental health professionals. Reverse culture shock is real. Hear from mental health staff about common reentry challenges and strategies for navigating the transition back home.
- Reflect at your own pace, without pressure. The course includes private activities designed to help you process your experience thoughtfully, on your own timeline.
- Connect with reentry resources at your UC campus. Discover the support services, communities, and opportunities available to help you continue your global engagement after you return.
