As an Aspiring Environmental Engineer, I want to revamp current civil systems of rural and developing communities through the incorporation of renewable energy systems, green infrastructure, efficient sustainable materials, more complex water, electric, and broadband networks. Through my voyage in assisting communities around the world by developing sustainable solutions, I want to redefine engineering as not only about its projects but more so about the people the projects serve. As a student of color from a developing country, I have tried to make ends meet to make this once-in-a-lifetime educational investment to intern abroad possible. Every moment of the Internship has given me clarity but also instilled gratitude in me. As a truly passionate environmentalist, I have found joy in making the world, and its people healthier. Through my efforts I hope to empower and inspire many others from my community—Asians, the financially unstable, and people of color, among many others—to invest in an opportunity that holds the potential to change their perspective toward life.
