Throughout this internship, I also assisted with two opening receptions of their new exhibitions, through which I was able to get in touch with art professionals in London. The tasks I have accomplished within the office allowed me to improve my IT skills, such as Excel and database management, while tasks outside of the office taught me transferable skills like how to network with professional individuals, how to communicate with clients and how to greet visitors, etc. These skills can be implied to my future jobs, while the internship itself can be a highlight on my resume. For a college student who hadn’t had any professional experience, this internship was not only an eye-opening experience but also an important stepstone for my future career. This internship has strengthened my professional skills, widened my vision, deepened my understanding of the art industry, and reassured my passion for art. What’s more important is that it sheds light on my future academic and career choices, and allows me to make changes before it is too late. Again, I am more than thankful for being in this study abroad program and having the chance to grow in this internship and truly embrace the diverse perspectives of success and personal growth.
