Conducting research during my time abroad has made an invaluable contribution to helping me reach my career goals as a socially engaged social science researcher. First and foremost, developing connections with renowned professors at UNAM on top of conducting bibliographical and interview-based research entirely in Spanish has expanded my capacities and opportunities for contributing to scholarly debates with a transnational perspective in my work. Staying in Mexico City for an entire year allowed me to develop strong relationships, not just academically, but also with civil society organizations actively working around my areas of concern.
