My study abroad experience in Madrid has definitely changed my perspective on my home country and campus. It really allowed me to see the world in a less self-centered way and learn from the differences between my culture and theirs. It was also very interesting to see how people in other countries view the United States and its citizens. I had some great conversations with Spaniards where we debunked both American and Spanish stereotypes and it taught me the importance of intercultural contact in truly connecting with others and eliminating biases and judgement. I loved learning from people who are different from myself and who see the world in a totally different light. It was a truly incredible experience that I’m extremely grateful to have had.
