About The Program

Paris captivates with its blend of historic grandeur and dynamic student life. From cozy neighborhood boulangeries serving fresh croissants to bustling street markets where students gather for affordable picnic supplies, the city's food scene goes far beyond fancy restaurants. Discover the art of French living as you join classmates at casual cafés in the Latin Quarter, sample street crêpes in Montmartre, or share a pizza in the Marais. Get matched with a UCEAP alum living in Paris for a head start in understanding life in this beautiful city! Learn to navigate daily life through cultural competency training and an optional survival French course, opening doors to authentic experiences beyond tourist spots. Trace centuries of history as you wander medieval streets, explore hidden courtyards, and visit world-famous museums with your student ID. Whether you're people-watching from a café terrace, joining fellow students for evening concerts in historic churches, or picnicking along the Seine with classmates, you'll experience Paris as more than a tourist destination – you'll become part of its living story.

Where you'll study

Courses for this program are held at a study center complex that houses classrooms, a computer lab, a library, and a resource center where you can pick up mail and use Wi-Fi. The building sits deep within a courtyard off of the rue du Faubourg St. Antoine, a street formerly famous for interior designers and furniture factories. One of the city’s most vibrant and diverse areas, the neighborhood is home to the Opéra Bastille and the historical Place de la Bastille. Unattached to a university, the city of Paris itself is incorporated into coursework as a “living laboratory” with site visits, local cultural activities, and lectures from prominent scholars based in the area. You will find Paris to be a fascinating mix of cultures with many layers where the old and the new intersect on a daily basis. Within easy reach of metro stops, train stations, and bus lines, the study center offers convenient and quick access to all of the city and its suburbs.

TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES

The study center arranges field trips and activities to introduce the local culture and special features of your host country. There may be other optional excursions, which you can explore after arrival.
