As I finish my first semester abroad at the University of Barcelona for the 2019-2020 year, and reflect on this journey it still amazes me that I get the opportunity to be here. Coming from a first generation family and being the first one to be able to take advantage of this opportunity I make sure to make the best of it everyday, and remind myself of that privilege. I have become more independent and self aware .... I became more outgoing, independent, and involved all in a couple months. I know I will be able to use everything I have learned here back home, especially as I prepare to apply to graduate school. Since I am doing a year abroad, I plan on continuing to challenge myself with new things like being more outspoken in class. I will continue to travel and meet different parts of the world, that I can later share with my family back home. All this just makes it more special and it reminds me to keep pushing myself to learn, and take advantage of this amazing opportunity. Once again, I thank you for believing in me and supporting a latina’s dream of meeting the world through her education.
