Additionally, I have long been interested in pursuing a career in international law, so I was beyond excited that the Irish Parliament internship offered an opportunity for three of my long-held interests to overlap. As an Irish Parliament intern I aimed to develop my understanding of Europe’s approach to information privacy and learn about Irish culture and society, while exploring potential international law careers. Learning about the differences in the legal professions Between Ireland and the United States provided me with a starting point for exploring international law pathways. My experience working in the Dáil Éireann will continue to stick with me, and the valuable lessons, tools, and knowledge I learned will continue to provide lasting value in my life for years to come. By providing an opportunity to experience international systems of governance in action, the UCEAP Irish Parliamentary internship made me not only a better student and professional, but a more informed and motivated global citizen.
