If I had never gone to Japan, I would have stayed well within my bubble at home. Pushing myself to be in challenging situations by myself stimulated my curiosity and desire to learn. Mynewly expanded comfort zone allowed me to get to know not only fellow international students but also become close friends with the local Japanese students, whom I still talk to today. My eagerness to experience all that I could in Japan has not faded upon my return to America. In fact, it has grown into a worldly curiosity and appreciation of different backgrounds and perspectives.
