This opportunity has opened my eyes to the inner workings of government and politics. As a political science and international studies major, I first applied to partake in this opportunity with excitement to learn about how a parliamentary democracy functions on a systemic and personal level through hands-on experience. The notion of working within the government of another nation was an incredible experience that I did not know could be possible. My first day in Leinster House was spent in complete awe and joy, gazing at the chandeliers in the Seanad and walking the historical halls with thankful astonishment that I, a first-generation Latina, am starting to realize my dreams of making a difference through politics.
