Students who want to learn about study abroad will find the most authentic and trusted perspective comes from their peers. Sharing your experience encourages other UC students to enhance their UC education through study abroad.
If you are a UCEAP participant or alumni, you may agree to be photographed, filmed, recorded, or asked for written feedback by UC representatives.
Media and Personal Information
To encourage other UC students to consider UCEAP, you may choose to share your image and likeness in photographic images – printed and digital; video; audio and voice; written statements, comments, and testimonials – such as a statement of purpose, thank you note, and end of the year report; other artistic representations (Media); along with related personal information, such as your name, campus, major, and academic program (Personal Information), with UCEAP. The Media may be provided by you in response to requests from UCEAP, made available through the ordinary course of your participation in the Program, and/or in response to promotional appeals emails, social media campaigns and posts, and photograph competitions.
How We Use Media
UCEAP uses the Media to promote and share information about UCEAP programs on the UCEAP website and blog and in digital media, including but not limited to promotional appeals emails, social media campaigns and posts, flyers, postcards, posters, and banners (Marketing Materials). Marketing Materials may be available to the general public to view.
Media Release
You grant UC non-exclusive, revocable permission to use, adapt, modify, reproduce, distribute, display, in any form now known or later developed, your Personal Information, along with Media you created and own, supplied by you, or taken of you as defined in this release, throughout the world, by incorporating it or them into UC’s commercial, informational, educational, advertising, or promotional materials.
You release UC, its agents, employees, licensees, and assigns from any and all claims that you, or any third party, may have now or in the future for invasion of privacy, right of publicity, copyright infringement, defamation or any other cause of action arising out of the use, exploitation, reproduction, adaptation, distribution, broadcast, performance, or display of the Personal Information or Media.
You waive any right to inspect or approve any Marketing Materials that may be created using the Personal Information or Media and waive any claim with respect to the eventual use to which the Personal Information or Media may be applied. The Personal Information or Media may be used at UC’s sole discretion, with or without your name, and with accurate biographical material, alone or in conjunction with any other material of any kind or nature except that UC will not use the Personal Information or Media for any criminal or illegal purposes or in a manner inconsistent with community standards of decency.
You understand that you will not receive payment of any kind and agree that UC is and will remain the exclusive owner of all right, title, and interest, including copyright, in the Marketing Materials, and any commercial, informational, educational, advertising, or promotional materials containing the Materials.
You represent and warrant that you have full power and authority to enter into this agreement on your own behalf, on behalf of another person, or on behalf of your organization/company.
Maximum Period of Retention
The maximum period of retention is ten (10) years after the end of the fiscal year following expiration of use. Media determined to have enduring historical value may be archived for future use in accordance with any applicable laws or policies.

Consent Updates, Questions & Complaints
You may update your consents at any time via the student portal settings. Updates shall be effective within forty (40) business days of your update and is only applicable to Media that remains under UCEAP’s control, has been published within the last ninety (90) days, and may be easily updated, as opposed to Media which has been printed and/or circulated beyond its control and publication occurred more than ninety (90) days prior to the update request.
