During my internship with a water-resources NGO in Jordan, I led independent research on the country’s water sector—producing a 45‑page report with original figures for stakeholders and donors—while also formatting, editing, and reviewing manuscripts for journal submission. I analyzed the social, political, and economic dimensions of water scarcity, wrote an opinion piece for the organization’s newsletter, and supported publication deadlines, gaining hands‑on experience with professional research, data visualization, and the journal submission process in a multilingual, international team.
This internship genuinely fine-tuned my post-grad plans and set me on a path I didn't expect! I gained a newfound comfort in working in a multilingual and international team and in conducting myself appropriately in a new cultural context, which has made me much more prepared for the thought of working abroad after graduation. The feedback I received on my output gave me the confidence to consider myself a valuable and capable team member in any future position I may consider.
