This experience transformed me from a student of journalism into a practitioner. I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to speak anyway—especially when the microphone is live and the stakes feel high. I discovered the joy of immediate audience engagement, the resilience to adapt when conversations took unexpected turns, and the responsibility that comes with being a trusted voice. Working at a national station serving France’s Maghrebi and French-speaking diaspora showed me the tangible impact of diversity in media—not as a corporate slogan, but as a lived commitment to representing stories and voices often excluded from mainstream narratives. I also grew personally: living and working in France pushed me out of my comfort zone, strengthened my cultural adaptability, and deepened my sense of belonging in an international media landscape. I left Beur FM not only with new skills, but with a renewed conviction that journalism—done inclusively, fearlessly, and with integrity—can change how people see the world.
