About The Program
Build international work experience through a seven-week, full-time internship in Barcelona. Designed for juniors and seniors in business, marketing, communications, international relations, and related fields, this program pairs professional experience with an internship seminar that helps you reflect on workplace practices, cultural context, and career goals. The accompanying seminar connects your internship to Barcelona through cultural site visits, neighborhood activities, workshops, and applied assignments. As you engage with the city’s communities, history, and contemporary professional landscape, you’ll build the context and confidence to make the most of your experience abroad. You’ll be individually matched with a local company, nonprofit organization, or startup based on your academic background and professional interests. Placements may focus on areas such as business, marketing, communications, education, or international relations. Before departure, you’ll take part in résumé review, goal setting, and interviews to help identify an internship that fits your goals. During the program, you’ll work approximately 30 hours per week, developing practical skills such as communication, initiative, adaptability, and collaboration across cultures. No previous Spanish study is required, though Spanish skills may expand the range of available placements.
WHERE YOU'LL STUDY
Courses for this program are held at Expanish, a modern and welcoming language school in Barcelona where the focus is on inspiring students to learn about the local culture and language. The school’s location is situated on a private street lined with stucco buildings and palm trees. The newly renovated school has eight spacious and wheelchair-accessible classrooms near public transportation. The school’s location makes it convenient to explore Barcelona’s neighborhoods and beaches as well as attractions such as Las Ramblas (a tree-lined pedestrian street with eateries, shops, and markets), the Gothic Quarter, and Plaça de Catalunya (a historic city square) while on breaks or after class. The school has free high-speed WiFi throughout and cozy common areas where students can study and catch up with friends between classes.
