About The Program
Spend your summer in a quintessential Italian college town, earning credit through coursework tailored for international students at the University of Bologna. This program is designed for students who want a short-term, immersive experience in Italy without committing to a full semester. You will enroll in a core subject course—such as Italian business and economics, European Union politics, or psychology and neuroscience—taught by local faculty. The curriculum integrates concrete Italian and European examples through guest speakers, case studies, and field trips, allowing you to see how academic theories apply in a regional context. Alongside your core course, an Italian culture component introduces you to the history and traditions of Bologna through themed lectures and hands-on activities. One of the oldest universities in the Western world, the University of Bologna (Unibo) counts Dante as one of its former students. This university is embedded into the fabric of the northern Italian host city of the same name. Founded nearly a thousand years ago, it holds a rich history and architectural heritage. Now a large institution spread across the city, Unibo classrooms are located throughout the city in Medieval and Renaissance palazzi as well as in newly constructed modern buildings connecting the past and present. Unibo offers many opportunities to get involved in events, make friends, and join clubs.
