Guidelines for Guest Bloggers
The goal of UCEAP’s official blog, The Californian Abroad, is to help college students have amazing study abroad experiences with lasting benefits through content that is original, informative, honest, entertaining, and compelling.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- A draft post focused on a topic of your choice
- Photos from your time abroad
- Profile photo of yourself
- A brief bio
The Rules
- Must be your own, previously unpublished, original work
- All submissions are subject to editing for style and voice
- Multiple posts are welcome
- Submission does not guarantee a post will be published
Tips to Consider
- Who is this post going to help? (e.g., biology majors, first-time travelers, etc.).
- What practical help or advice will readers get from this post? Or, what location, program, or experience will this inspire readers to pursue?
- Be as specific as possible. “Five reasons to study abroad in Hong Kong” is better than “Travel tips for Hong Kong.”
- Use headings to highlight key points and takeaways.
- How-to and list-style posts work really well. People love insider knowledge and steps for achieving something unique or challenging. Examples: “Six tips for financial aid students abroad” or “How to visit 20 countries in one semester.”
- Enjoy it. Have fun!
