Catalan

This course is the continuation of module 1 (CATALAN 100). The principal objective of the course is to develop students' communicative competence to survive in Catalan in real situations. Grammatical instruction builds on syntax previously covered and is tied to real communication situations. The past tense, prepositions, and the subjunctive are covered and emphasis is placed on oral discussion of topics such as the time and schedules, quantification and description, and opinions or preferences. This Catalan language course corresponds with the A2 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

This course provides a study of the econometric tools used in microeconomics. It examines the analysis and use of qualitative data of independent variables and dependent variables. Topics include: discrete choice models; discrete choice models with three or more alternatives; models with limited dependent variables; sample selection models; models of public policy appraisal; count data models; models with panel data; duration models.

This course provides an introduction to databases, with a focus on mastering the skills and knowledge required to design and analyze a database and recover and store data in a fast and efficient manner. It reviews key concepts, including the difference between data and information; database design; database implementation (SQL; data manipulation language; normalization; storage and indexation); connectivity; introduction to NoSQL.

This is the second in a sequence of four Catalan language courses intended for Spanish speakers. It further develops basic reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills in Catalan, with emphasis on vocabulary and verb tenses and other grammatical structures.
