This course examines the problems, methods, and results of semantics and pragmatics, with an emphasis on how they complement one another. It explores the development of semantics and pragmatics and contextualizes them in the development of general linguistics theory. Finally, this courses uses an organic assembly of theoretical concepts and methodologies for semantic and pragmatic analysis of the Spanish language.

This course offers a study of concepts related to series scriptwriting including: story line, synopsis, narrative approach, and dialogue writing. It also discusses the importance of a pilot episode. Other topics include: series episode structure; differences between a feature film script and a series episode script; tv genres; pitching a series.

It explores the incidence of social and cultural factors in the acquisition and use of language, as well as on the sociolinguistic status of Indigenous languages and the linguistic planning of the different Latin American countries.

The course traces the trajectory of anti-colonialist thought in Latin American and the Caribbean from the beginning of the 20th century to the present, identifying relevant moments, as well as the main thematic, narrative, and political topics.
