Course Description
This intensive course offers instruction in research methodologies for the humanities and social sciences, introducing the theoretical and practical issues raised by field research as specific training for students preparing to conduct such research. Topics include research questions, appropriate sources of data, methods of data collection. Students visit libraries, research centers, and archives as appropriate. They consider research questions by preparing questionnaires, conducting interviews, and drawing distinctions between description and interpretation with the goal of understanding what constitutes scientific knowledge within the context of field research. Students submit a field notebook and prepare project outlines that are reviewed in a roundtable seminar with the specialist/mentors who will supervise the research itself. Assessment for the course is based on weekly assignments and a final exam.

Course Description

This five-week intensive Spanish course is geared for students with previous language study experience and aims to build on this foundation to develop further communicative skills. The lectures are divided into five units which cover one or more forms of grammar each week and are complemented with readings, exercises, games, and songs. Basic forms of grammar covered include: accentuation; gender/number agreement; review of ser and estar; reflexive verbs; perfect present; conditionals, past perfect; subjunctive; imperative; relative pronouns; por and para; future tense. Assessment is based on class participation and a final exam.

Course Description

This five-week intensive Spanish course is geared for students at the CEFR A1 and A2 levels and focuses on the development of language learning skills and tools at the introductory level. The lectures are divided into five units which cover one or more forms of grammar each week and are complemented with readings, exercises, games, and songs. Basic forms of grammar covered include: the verbs ser, estar, and tener; regular verbs ending in -ar, -er, and -ir, as well as irregular verbs; contrast between estar and haber, and the simple future tense; direct and indirect objects, llevar and tener, ir and venir; verbs expressing emotion, preterite tense. Assessment is based on class participation and a final exam.
