Course Description
This course examines a representative corpus of poetry by Chilean women, from the 19th century to the present day, including Mapuche poets. Topics covered include: gender and poetry; poetics of women writers in the early twentieth century(melodrama, madness, eroticism); poetics of hatching: eroticism, transgression and citizenship; heterogeneous poetics: sexuality, wandering, indigenous voices.

Course Description
The course examines the foundations of Latin American political thought and how it has influenced the governmental systems that are in place today. The course analyzes the contributions of the most outstanding Latin American political thinkers from the nineteenth to the early twenty-first century. It identifies the evolution of ideas, concepts and worldview of the masters of political thought in the region and recognizes the main debates that shaped the history of political thought. Specifically, the course looks into prominent Latin American political thinkers like Simon Bolívar, Jose Martí, Fidel Castro, Salvador Allende and Eugenio María de Hostos.

Course Description
This course studies the history of cinema, its scientific basis and previous devices used, the elements of cinematographic language and the analysis of film. The origins of Spanish cinema, the pioneers, singularities, and the context of Spain at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries is also covered. Other topics include: different periods of Spanish cinema; the international consolidation of Spanish cinema, auteur cinema and current Spanish cinema and its challenges; cartoon movies, series and documentaries, and festivals.
