Amy's research examined the 1980 Gwangju Uprising to understand how student protest movements shape individual political consciousness and collective memory. Using ethnographic and archival methods alongside psychology, sociology, and anthropology, Amy explored how activism leaves lasting impacts on both participants and society, highlighting the importance of supporting student politics in broader struggles for justice.
Overall, my education abroad experience was not only academically enriching but personally transformative. It deepened my passion for anthropological research, helped me better understand my diasporic identity, and reaffirmed my commitment to studying social movements, memory, and political engagement from a global, intersectional lens.
