During my internship at a national French radio station serving diaspora audiences, I researched daily news, prepared stories, and went live on air in French to moderate discussions, interview guests, and engage callers across France and the Maghreb. I contributed to the flagship morning show by selecting topics, crafting questions, writing web articles and on‑air scripts, and timing interventions to the show’s rhythm; off‑air, I prepared guest profiles and advanced a thesis on media serving culturally specific communities—bridging French national coverage with stories from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia.
This internship confirmed that my future lies in storytelling that reaches beyond the page. I saw firsthand that ‘traditional’ media is far from obsolete; for many, especially in marginalized communities, radio remains a trusted source of information and connection. This realization strengthened my commitment to preserving diverse, accessible platforms for journalism.
