This course seeks to understand psychological knowledge and ways of thinking related to educational settings. It instructs on basic theories and phenomena in developmental psychology, learning psychology, cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, etc., in relation to issues facing school education.

Since ancient times, people have traveled to sacred places in search of sacred power, listened to the legends of these places and the miraculous experiences of the gods and Buddha. Particularly in the Middle Ages, engi-e, paintings of the origins and history of a temple or shrine, which glorified miraculous experiences and visualized the stories of the gods and Buddha; and pilgrimage mandalas, which skillfully depicted the past and present of sacred places, were actively produced, and were sometimes displayed in front of people. This course discusses religious paintings such as engi-e and pilgrimage mandalas, as well as related stories and legends, to decipher the beliefs in sacred places and the stories that support them. The course aims to acquire the ability to read narrative pictures while exploring the origins of power spots that attract even modern people and the spiritual culture of the Japanese people, and examining methods of picturing sacred places and the specific aspects of faith.

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of Japanese linguistics. Starting with the position of Japanese linguistics within linguistics, the course introduces knowledge from a variety of fields, from phonetics and phonology to sociolinguistics, and develops the ability to analyze Japanese from a linguistic perspective.

This wrestling course is for beginners to learn basic movements as a recreational activity. It aims to build a body with high flexibility and endurance by incorporating stretching and aerobic exercises to absorb more oxygen. The class also teaches how to stimulate muscles and to build strength through resistance training using one's own or partner's body weight.

As many natural and social phenomena are described by functions, fundamental laws are formulated through differential and integral calculus. This course covers the basics of differential and integral calculus for single-variable functions. It is recommended to take this "Introduction to Mathematics" course first, followed by the study of more general multivariable calculus in the subsequent “Calculus 1, 2". No prerequisite knowledge of Mathematics III in high school, IB Higher Level, or AP Calculus is required.

This course outlines basic ideas of business administration and management. Business enterprise is considered the main subject of production, and a major creator of values and wealth in a society. The focus of this course is on management, which is required to operate such business enterprises and other organizations. Then the course looks at several sub-fields of business administration (corporation, organization, corporate strategy, innovation, small-and medium-sized enterprises, international business etc.), forming a whole picture of management.
This course is designed as an introduction for students who hope or are considering a major in business. Previous knowledge is not required.

Furthermore, the students examine specific case studies, learning the necessary ways of thinking in education and schools.
COURSE DETAIL
This advanced Japanese course is designed to improve writing skills. A different theme concerning Japanese culture and society is chosen for each course and students are split into groups to engage in activities, discussion, and group work concerning the selected topic. The goal of the class is for students to widen their perspectives and deepen their knowledge regarding various issues related to Japan and Japanese society. The program offers various theme courses and students may take multiple sections.
