This course tackles the fundamentals of ethics as a practical philosophy, both in its principal historical-systematic expressions and in its applications to agriculture, the environment, the treatment of animals, and the use of technology. This course also focuses on the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that permit students within the degree of agriculture and forest engineering a working knowledge of ethics for their professional career.

The course provides a study of mysticism through the biographical accounts and writings of women who played a role in the history of Christian mysticism: Hidelgard de Bingen (1098-1180), Teresa de Ávila (1515-1582), and Edith Stein (1891-1942).

This course examines the challenges of promoting and protecting human rights in Latin America, focusing on the most important analytical and empirical debates since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. It also analyzes transitional justice policies in processes of democratization and discusses the following questions: What is the nature of human rights abuses in Latin America? How have countries in the region responded to past abuses? What is the role of NGOs and regional and international institutions in promoting human rights? What are the best policies to promote and protect human rights in Latin America today?

This course explores the various aspects of human sexuality, primarily in adolescents and adults while emphasizing that these characteristics make sexuality clearly human. The course analyzes personal experience of sexual condition and behavior and highlights the responsibility for self and others. Topics include: the development of sexuality, marriage, responsible parenthood, and problems or alterations in sexuality.

This course provides a study on public projects, analyzing their relevance as a means to strengthen democracy, citizenship, and improving the living conditions of individuals and communities. It explores the methodologies involved in the design, analysis and evaluation of public projects, and the factors considered prior to implementation, including: political context; actors; economic and social effects; cost vs. benefit; effectiveness; planning and budgeting.

This course examines the relationship between information systems and organizational strategy, and in particular, the role information technologies play in the competitiveness, productivity and value creation of organizations. It discusses the life cycles and specific types of information systems, methodologies for developing information systems and their alternatives, and techniques for evaluating the performance of information systems.

The course provides critical analysis of the literature and recent debates on women and politics, focusing on the unequal participation of women in the political and electoral sphere of Latin America. It examines the processes and mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion of women in the public sphere and reflects on the achievements (and tasks still left pending) toward participation and representation of women in politics.

This course provides a study of fruit growing in Chile. It covers the morphology and anatomy of fruit plants, as well as the technical principles and management practices of cultivating fruit species of the greatest economic importance.
