This course provides a study of the economic, social, and communal developments of Asia between the 1800's and present day. It examines the primary characteristics of political development in Asian countries, including legal and judicial implications, and explores the effects of urban agglomeration and social changes that occurred in Asian societies. Topics include: economic development in the region; politics and international relations in China, Japan, and the Korean and Indochinese peninsula; human geography; legal development in the region and implications in relations between Asia and Latin America.

This course provides a critical analysis of the literary creations of the Andean world (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina) from pre-Hispanic civilization to the present. It compares different visions of the universe, religious beliefs, family connections, and literary tastes from Andean myths, legends, stories, theater, novels, and lyrics. In addition, the course compares and contrasts philosophical and religious thought processes with Western values and customs.

This course is a study of Chilean documentaries. It examines the development of Chilean documentary films in the 20th century and analyzes their academic significance within the historical context of the time. The course also pays special attention to the aesthetic and artistic value of these documentaries as pieces of visual art.

This course explores the main components of urban sustainability. It provides a study of the different conceptions of sustainability and issues related to identity and heritage, balance and environmental care, social cohesion and economic development, as well as city management and government.

This course covers the translation of different types of social sciences texts from English to Spanish at a basic and intermediate level of specialization. Using the concepts and the basic theoretical principles, types, and modalities of translation, it focuses on the transmission of concepts between languages and cultures, problem solving different translation challenges that arise during the process.

This course provides a study of modern photography, the historical and aesthetic process from the end of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century. It examines the theoretical and critical framework in which modern photography developed, the main trends and movements of modern photography, and the importance of photography in the development of visuality in the 20th century.

This course provides a critical and comparative analysis of the works of Chilean authors, Gabriela Mistral (1889-1957), and Violeta Parra (1917-1967). It examines the fundamental features found in each author's poetic and cultural projects, taking into consideration the diverse sources (poetry, biographies, autobiographies, letters and articles), critiques, and historical context. It also compares the levels of the works of both poets: subject construction, country and landscape configuration in their poetry, cultural projects and amorous discourse.

This is a practical course aimed at developing the use of the body and movement as an element of expression and communication, and recognizing elements of body expression that relate to the world of theater (scenic presence, etc.).
