Course Description
This seminar addresses two issues emblematic of the Judeo-Christian cultural dispute over feminine sexuality: sexual labors and sexual harassment. It uses texts by the French philosopher and anthropologist, Pierre Bourdieu as a theoretical framework and examines the core sexual dilemmas of Judeo-Christian culture through legal, sociological and anthropological accounts of the historical emergence of Judeo-Christian sexual norms in the US, Europe and Mexico.

Course Description

This course discusses the configuration and reconfiguration of the contemporary world system and Latin America's place within it. It examines different perspectives of globalization mainly through the lens of sociology and anthropology.  Topics include: approaches, definitions, and emphasis on the meaning and impact of globalization; economic insertion of a world periphery, regional integration systems, and resources at stake in global exchanges; global flows-- migratory, religious, touristic; diffusion and use of digital technologies, new social movements, and the global city from the south.

Course Description
The course explores questions regarding intersectionality, decolonial theory, and queer theory. It personalizes these themes through an examination of experiences and contexts through cultural analysis and intervention or creative projects outside of the classroom. The class also problematizes the various institutions of hegemony, and grapples with the various critiques and ways forward proposed by both Latin American and Western theorists and connects these back to the Mexican context. This course provides a study of the basic theoretical-conceptual elements, the practical mechanisms and the methodological tools of international human rights law. It examines the origin and theoretical-conceptual framework of international human rights law, the different trends that account for its foundation, validity, application and reception.
