This course teaches students key ideas in the field of public policy and give them an authentic experience of researching a public policy problem. The core of the course is learning the latest theories of public policymaking and governing. This covers debates about the nature and scope of public policy problems, theories of the policy process, symbolic meaning and narratives in policy, theories of policy change, and the political power of government, business and non-government activists in policymaking. The research aspect of the course involves analyzing a contemporary public policy problem, from its causes and effects through to possible solutions.

This course introduces students to the main features of the immune system, the innate immune system, and the specific immune system. Students learn about recognition of microbes by the specific immune system and how the immune system protects against different pathogens. They also learn how the immune system can itself cause disease, for example in allergy or autoimmune diseases, and the consequences of a deficient immune system.

This is a course unit for intermediate students who possess an A-Level qualification or equivalent competence in Italian. It revises, consolidates, and extends students’ prior knowledge of Italian through a structured program of taught classes and assessed coursework with a strong focus on a program of independent language learning made available through Blackboard. 

This course provides students with a general introduction to the field of sustainable consumption. It considers the potential of the social sciences to engage with issues of global significance, whilst considering the origins and consequences of the things that consumers do in their everyday lives. Students go on to examine the role of businesses, governments, and other organizations in moving towards a more sustainable future.
