Course Description

This course strengthens Chinese listening, writing, and speaking skills and focuses on improving pronunciation. The course is designed for exchange students and visiting students only. The Chinese course is offered for those students who are taking Chinese course Elementary I, II & III from NTU Center for International Education.This class goes over vocabulary and grammar in depth. There are class discussions every lesson. Class discussions are held every class for approximately one hour. The course also furthers understanding of Taiwanese culture and language. Attendance is required. Students who miss five courses will receive an F. Assessment: attendance and participation, midterm exam, interview, written exam, assignments, quizzes and reports. Course Description
This is a compulsory language course and the main goal is training students' communication ability in spoken Chinese. There are about 15 students for each class. There are 3 levels according to the textbooks and the vocabulary. Students learn 3000 new words in this level. After the course, students should be able to express themselves in Chinese at a normal speed. The expression in Chinese should be quite clear, accurate, and appropriate. Students are able to join some discussions on the general topics and have general business negotiation in Chinese. Text: INTERMEDIATE SPOKEN CHINESE II. (Zhongjikouyu 2) Peking University Press. Assessment: class performance, two midterm exams, final exam.

Course Description

The aim of Spoken Chinese is to enhance the proficiency of oral communication by learning common vocabularies and sentences.

Advanced Class: For those who have vocabulary skill of more than 2500 Chinese words. The course aims to enable students to discuss and communicate their ideas on general social topics.

Course Description
This course is for international students with intermediate Chinese skills who would like to further their understanding of Chinese society. The course covers scenarios that reflect Chinese daily life and native oral language. Classes involve lectures and discussion of texts with vocabulary, sentence structure, textual material of gradually increasing complexity. In addition to the textbook, the course covers idioms, proverbs, and slang. Course Description

This beginning Chinese language course is for students who have never taken Chinese courses or have taken less than 100 hours of Chinese language instruction. It teaches hanyu pinyin; the structure, stroke orders, and writing method of Chinese characters; basic Chinese sentence structure and word order; and topics such as self-introduction and carrying on basic conversation. The course develops proficient language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing to enable students to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Course Description

The course develops proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing that builds off already existing advanced proficiency in Chinese and further hones that proficiency through weekly discussion of the class text. Course Description
This course is designed for students who have completed the intermediate-level course or for those who have the equivalent ability.
