This course examines characteristics of teatro breve and its importance within the theatrical spectacle, during the Spanish Golden Age. If offers an overview of the political, social, and cultural situation in Spain and the beginnings of theater. It discusses prominent authors of teatro breve including: Lope de Rueda; Miguel de Cervantes; Hurtado de Mendoza; Quevedo; Quiñones de Benavente; Solís; Calderón de la Barca.
