Course Description
This course covers the translation of different types of social sciences texts from English to Spanish at a basic and intermediate level of specialization. Using the concepts and the basic theoretical principles, types, and modalities of translation, it focuses on the transmission of concepts between languages and cultures, problem solving different translation challenges that arise during the process.

Course Description
This course continues the study of Spanish grammar and further develops the four language skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing while offering greater familiarity with the culture of Spain and Spanish America. The objectives of the course include the communication of simple, personal experiences from the past and present; the expression of needs, desires, opinions, and conjecture; the comprehension of the principal idea from simple written passages; the ability to write brief texts and messages referring to personal characteristics and surroundings. Assessment for the course is based on daily workbook exercises, weekly quizzes and compositions, a mid-term exam, and a final exam with both oral and written components. Course Description
This course provides a critical and comparative analysis of the works of Chilean authors, Gabriela Mistral (1889-1957), and Violeta Parra (1917-1967). It examines the fundamental features found in each author's poetic and cultural projects, taking into consideration the diverse sources (poetry, biographies, autobiographies, letters and articles), critiques, and historical context. It also compares the levels of the works of both poets: subject construction, country and landscape configuration in their poetry, cultural projects and amorous discourse.
