This course examines the role sports play in society as a sub-discipline of sociology. It explores the fundamental themes in sport which reflect, impact, and affect social change. This course discusses social issues that have impacted sport in the Caribbean and the global community and classified as various forms of social phenomena.

This course explores the place, meaning, and practice of sport in Australian culture. Students focus on the range of youth engagement in sports from elite international sport to grass roots, community-based, and school sport. The processes of globalization and commodification in sport is addressed in collaboration with the implications these processes have for the social and cultural development of youth. Students also attend field trips to relevant sporting events in Sydney.

This course presents an introduction to the nature, principles, research findings, and practical applications of sport and exercise psychology. Following an introduction to this field as both an academic discipline and profession, the course explores a variety of established and emerging topics in sport and exercise psychology.

In this course, students study exercise science. They learn how an acute bout of exercise alters the structure and function of the human body, and they examine the acute responses to exercise in the neuromuscular system, the cardio-respiratory system, together with the associated metabolic, neuro-endocrine, and thermoregulatory responses.
