Course Description
This course provides a well-rounded coverage of the field of animal behavior from physiological, ecological and evolutionary perspectives. The course expects the critical evaluation of concepts and information introduced in lectures and the textbook, and to critically read primary scientific literature. Contact sessions provide training in how to carry out independent research in this field. Students carry out a semester-long independent project in small groups of 4 students. Groups plan their projects and write a formal research proposal (group assignment), then carry out the projects, analyze their data, and each student then produces a poster on the project, to be presented in poster sessions at the end of the semester (individual assignment). This contributes to half of the assessment in this course.
