Course Description
This course provides an introduction to the diversity of the invertebrates, giving an understanding of the characteristics that distinguish the phyla, and the relationships between them in the "Tree of Life". The course explores the biology of invertebrates with an emphasis on structure, function, life histories, behavior and ecology. Invertebrate diversity is examined in a variety of environments, using New Zealand examples where possible, and provides the basis for advanced courses in conservation and marine ecology.
