University of California Credit and UCEAP

Choosing courses and fitting them into your broader academic plan is a critical part of the study abroad process. All courses you take on the University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) are guaranteed UC credit.

That's where the Campus Credit Abroad database can help. This tool can show you the specific types of credit (i.e., major, minor, general education, elective) that UC students previously received for courses abroad.

It’s important to understand a few things before you use the Campus Credit Abroad database:

  • The UC Berkeley Campus Credit Abroad database lists courses currently preapproved for breadth credit.
  • Other Campus Credit Abroad databases list past course approvals, so there is no guarantee that you will receive the same type of credit. Your UC department or school makes the final decision about whether a course will apply to your program requirements.
  • Your academic planning process should involve discussions with your home campus advisor.
  • Some courses listed may not be offered during your term abroad. Some courses at partner universities may have been changed or canceled.
  • There are more courses available. Take a look at the UCEAP Course Catalog to expand your search on classes UC students have taken in the past. Check out the Academics section of each program page to access the full list of courses at UCEAP's partner universities.
