Studying abroad was a truly life-changing experience for me because it provided a unique opportunity to learn about the world and myself at the same time, broadening my perspective in ways I never would have imagined. At Carlos III University in Madrid, I was fortunate to have professors who were not only respected lecturers and, more importantly, understanding mentors. Before leaving, I was most anxious about making friends, but I soon realized that everyone I met had the same goal: discovering themselves while exploring the world. This shared mission created a deep bond, transforming strangers into lifelong friends who became like family. I visited some of the most famous museums in the world and developed a greater appreciation for art in one of my favorite classes, Arts & Museums History. Not only did seeing the Prado and Reina Sofía teach us about history, but it was also an amazing experience of creativity and culture.
I learned to welcome new experiences, adjust to strange surroundings, and recognize the value of connection—whether it be via friendships that will last a lifetime or through art or culture—while studying abroad.
