Studying abroad is an exciting opportunity pursued by thousands of UC students every year, each with their own unique goals. UCEAP offers a wide range of programs, and careful planning is key to making the most of your experience.

To get started, review the application deadlines (to ensure your program of interest is still accepting applications) and create an account in the UCEAP portal. The portal provides access to essential information and resources to guide you through the process.

Your campus study abroad office, academic advisors, and UCEAP advisors are here to support you every step of the way, from application to departure.

Discover: Set Your Goals

When thinking about studying abroad, consider your goals and interests—whether it’s gaining professional or field training, learning a new language, or choosing between the energy of a big city and the tranquility of a natural setting.

Remember, this is your study abroad, and you'll want to make the most of your time!

The study abroad planner will help you reflect on your personal and career goals, academic needs, and personal aspects of your identity so that you can select the right program for you. Plus, our expert advisors are here to help you navigate your options and find your perfect program fit.

For most students, your journey to studying abroad begins between nine and 14 months prior to the term you study abroad. Let's review the timeline so you can plan your tasks.

STEP 4: FINANCE

APPLY YOUR FUNDING

Here’s an important fact to keep in mind: If you can make your finances work to attend UC, you can do it for UCEAP. Any UC financial aid you already receive will be available to you abroad, including UC grants. If you aren’t already on financial aid, you may qualify when you study abroad.

To further offset expenses, be sure to apply for UCEAP's study abroad scholarships. With one application, you can apply to most UCEAP awards!
