Housing

Before departure, you’ll complete an application for university housing. CUHK will assign your room based on your preferences and availability. You can expect your roommate(s) to speak English, though some more fluently than others. Fall arrivals initially stay at one dorm during orientation then move to another dorm for the remainder of the term. Spring arrivals move directly into dorm housing for the term.

Dorm

You will live in a dorm on campus with local and international students. The campus dorms, called hostels at CUHK, are among the most affordable housing options in Hong Kong. You can request a double or triple room, and each floor has communal kitchens where you can prepare and share meals. Residential Colleges have a partial meal plan. Recent returnees have said that dorm life at CUHK is much like joining a fraternity or sorority at UC. Students relish their hall pride with camaraderie and group activities. An on-site resident provides support and upholds the rules.
