About The Program
Develop your research skills while working alongside scientists at the University of Bristol during an immersive summer research experience. Designed for students considering graduate school or careers in research, healthcare, biotechnology, and the life sciences, the program places you on a faculty-supervised research project in fields such as biological sciences, biomedical sciences, psychology, neuroscience, or veterinary science. You'll gain firsthand experience asking scientific questions, collecting and analyzing data, and communicating your findings. Rather than learning about scientific discovery only in the classroom, you'll contribute to an active research project while shaping your own research pathway under the guidance of experienced researchers. Along the way, you'll strengthen skills in scientific inquiry, teamwork, experimental design, and presenting research—experience that can support future graduate study and careers in STEM. Outside the laboratory, enjoy summer in Bristol, a walkable city known for its independent cafés, music, street art, and historic harborside. Spend weekends exploring nearby coastal landscapes, visiting neighboring cities such as Bath, or building connections with fellow researchers and students from around the world.
WHERE YOU'LL STUDY
The University of Bristol is a research-intensive institution with a city campus woven throughout central Bristol. Rather than studying in a single enclosed campus, you'll move between academic buildings, libraries, cafés, and public spaces as part of daily life. The university's commitment to sustainability is reflected in its research, campus initiatives, and approach to building design. Beyond the classroom, you'll have access to eight libraries, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and a range of academic and wellness resources designed to support international students. Bristol's Student Experience team organizes activities that help students connect with the university and the city, while the Global Lounge hosts cultural events, language exchanges, and a Language Café where students can meet peers from around the world.
