Course topics are fairly consistent year to year, but not all courses may be offered every year.  Course topics typically include subjects such as psychology, British literature, AI and machine learning, politics, and economics.

Detailed syllabi are available on the University of Oxford Lady, Margaret Hall website (link below).  Course instructors advise that you familiarize yourself with the course content prior to the program.

Additional or optional coursework, internships, and research for academic credit are not possible on this program.

Online courses are not open to you.

Academic Culture

First-class teaching is at the heart of this program.  You will learn through thought-provoking lectures, lively seminar discussions, and vigorous tutorials.

You will explore new ideas among peers with diverse international perspectives and academic backgrounds.

Tutorials, the conclusion of each week’s study, are a unique opportunity for focused and personalized attention from an expert academic and a space for enthusiastic debate of important ideas.

Alongside no more than two to three other students, you present and discuss your work, accept constructive criticism, and engage with the ideas of your fellow students.  These rigorous academic discussions help develop and facilitate learning in a way that cannot be done with lectures alone.

The co-curricular programme provides an especially enriching learning experience beyond the classroom.  Skills sessions help you to develop your personal and academic abilities, from note-taking and active reading to public-speaking and presentation skills.  Guest speakers join students to provoke cross-disciplinary discussion and debate.

Grades

You will earn direct UC credit and grades for all coursework.  Grades for this program are expected in early to mid-October.

If you intend to put yourself on your campus degree list for graduation while on UCEAP, consult your campus advisors before departure about possible delays in the degree verification process.
