Housing
Before departure, you’ll complete an application for university housing. Housing is very competitive and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. HKU will assign your room based on your preferences and availability. You can expect your roommate(s) to speak English, though some more fluently than others.
Dorm
The dorms vary in size, location, and amenities. The bathrooms, lounges, study, and recreational rooms are shared. Each floor has a partial kitchen with a microwave, hot plate, water boiler, and refrigerator. Returnees often compare HKU dorms to a fraternity or sorority at UC. Group activities emphasize a sense of camaraderie among each dorm. Students often stay up late to work on projects and socialize, so expect it to be lively at night.
