Course Description
This course is a group research project focusing on a specific topic chosen from a list of approved topics selected by the participating faculty coordinators prior to the commencement of the program. Data collection and research activities are carried out as a group throughout the duration of the program, with the final research report completed independently. The research reports are submitted individually, with students presenting their research in their groups within a seminar structure. The project topic can come from any of the themes delivered throughout the program and will be developed based on factors such as faculty and local expertise, equipment availability, and ethical considerations. This project represents an outstanding opportunity for students to develop real-world research skills and practical solutions for challenging problems.

Course Description
This course focuses on the principles governing the state of motion or rest of bodies under the influence of applied force and torque, according to classical mechanics. The course covers the fundamental principles of the kinematics and kinetics of systems of particles, rigid bodies, planar mechanisms, three-dimensional mechanisms, covering topics including kinematics in various coordinate systems, Newton's laws of motion, work and energy principles, impulse and momentum (linear and angular), gyroscopic motion and vibration. Students develop skills in analyzing and modeling dynamical systems, using both analytical methods and computer-based solutions using MATLAB. Students gain experience in approximating the dynamic behavior of real systems in engineering applications and an appreciation and understanding of the effect of approximations in the development and design of systems in real-world engineering tasks.

Course Description
The course focuses on the dynamic surface of our planet and the environments it sustains. The Earth’s surface is shaped by a complex interaction of physical and biological processes operating over a range of spatial and temporal scales. Understanding these processes in the present day, as well as reconstructing landscape and ecological change in the past, enables us to predict their future response to climate change and human activity. This course studies the processes and spatial patterns that shape natural landscapes and learn about approaches of reconstructing their evolution. The course provides an appreciation of the ways that the dynamics of natural landscapes need to be incorporated into environmental management and the conservation of biodiversity. This includes an in-depth understanding of the wide spectrum of landforms (including mountains and hillslopes, glaciers, rivers, dunes, and coasts) and the processes contributing to their formation and decay. In addition, the subject addresses the geographic patterns and dynamics of life on the Earth’s surface and investigates the way in which certain landscapes support particular types of ecosystems (such as rainforest, grassland, desert, estuarine and marine communities). Finally, the factors that may cause change in natural landscapes are explored to assess the roles played by climate, tectonics and humans over various timescales.
