This course discusses subjects on iconic figures and events throughout Chinese history that students may have learned about previously, and uses a more in depth approach on these events to learn about connecting past history with modern world problems, and how we can solve them. Assessment: Participation 40%, Final Exam 60%.

This course provides a complete understanding of basic programming concepts and how to implement them in C Sharp (C#). The course emphasizes the major features of the programming languages to solve problems in engineering. This course includes lab sessions which followed by lectures.

This course introduces the whole book of Analects. It encourages students to recite several chapters, understand the basic knowledge of Confucius as well as Confucianism, and improve the understanding of ancient Chinese after reading Analects and introducing relevant knowledge. The course introduces relevant literature, history, commentary and academic background knowledge around Analects and Confucius.

The course discusses leadership and professional responsibility to cultivate leadership skills and to improve their theoretical quality and practical skills. The course lays a solid theoretical and practical foundation for future employment and career development. Topics: the needs of the society and the future development of individuals; the theoretical foundation of the curriculum, including the basic theory of leadership and professional responsibility and the latest theoretical progress; a comprehensive model of leadership and professional responsibility, which achieves the full integration of the two; and how to effectively improve leadership and professional responsibility, how to carry out targeted training at all stages of the career life cycle and highlight the importance of “gratefulness” in leadership and professional responsibility cultivation.

This course covers two aspects of Chinese art and cultural heritage—ancient gardening and painting. Guided by classic literature such as Yuanye and Linquan Gaozhi, the course will vividly display the beauty and wisdom contained in Chinese cultural heritage in the form of classic reading, cultural relic appreciation, and image observation.

This course provides an in-depth analysis of films while examining contemporary film aesthetics, and provides a study of the ideological, social, and cultural connotations of films. This course involves the analysis of the narrative viewpoint and narrative structure of films. Through representative directors, such as Wong Kar-wai, Hitchcock, Kubrick, etc., the course analyzes the psychological mechanism of film viewing, strategy of suspense, and thinking on modernity. In addition, representative film works are used to discuss various real-life issues with philosophical significance. New developments and characteristics of contemporary film aesthetics are also explored.

The course examines how audiovisual as a means of perception (recognition) helps us understand the world and communicate with each other, covering the basics and applications of audiovisual communication, visual expression and practice.

Taiwan is a rich and diverse country. This course combines language and culture, and covers various topics and situations about tourism and customs around Taiwan. The course strengthens language skills and vocabulary when recognizing famous attractions around Taiwan. After students complete this course, they will be able to correctly and fluently apply the appropriate vocabulary and sentences to real travel situations, such as buying tickets, booking hotels, asking for directions, and solving emergencies. In addition, they will also have a higher level of awareness in regards to the customs of the country.This course is taught mainly in Chinese.
