Course Description
This course explores the complex nature of culture, as well as the multiple axes of cultural diversity, and examines the effects of cultural identities, values, and practices on domestic and international politics. It compares constitutive, strategic, and institutional perspectives on culture. The course examines the challenges of cultural diversity for the modern international order, and focusing on questions of sovereign equality, international law, and human rights. Students gain an understanding of how culture relates to world politics.

Course Description
The course provides an overview of the nature and history of abnormal behavior and then examines the predominant models underlying our understanding of abnormality. Detailed descriptions and empirical research relating to a range of clinical problems form the core of the course. Topics include schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality, somatoform and dissociative disorders, and disorders of childhood. Presentations of clinical problems are supported by outside speakers or video-based illustrations. There is an emphasis upon empirical evidence relating to the epidemiology, etiology, and treatment of the clinical problems covered during the course. The course provides an introduction to the National Practice Standards for Mental Health Workforce.

Course Description

This course examines the changes that occur as particular texts move between various cultural forms. The media under consideration will include print, radio, theatre, television, film and videogames, but some adaptations that change cultures rather than media, such as television formats and cross cultural stage adaptations will also be examined.

This is a non-calculus introduction to physics in a biological context, introducing the physical principles that underlie the biological world. It covers the major topic areas of forces and motion, bulk materials ( elasticity and fluids), thermodynamics, electricity and biomedical imaging. Course Description
This course focuses on the biochemical and physiological foundations underpinning the relationship between nutrition and exercise performance and how diet and physical activity impact on health. In the first half of the course, the influence of macro and micro nutrients on athletic performance is closely examined. In the second half of the course, the influence of exercise and nutrition on the development, prevention and management of diseases such as obesity, type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease are addressed.

Course Description

This course provides students with an overview of prevalent developmental disorders present in childhood. The class covers issues related to diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of specific disorders (autism, ADHD, sensory disorders, behavior disorders, and anxiety and mood disorders), as well as more general theoretical issues related to causes of disorders in development and the implications of various disorders for the understanding of normal development.
