Course Description
This course explores the continuing experience and influence of a wide range of music made in Australia, from songlines to bush ballads and dance anthems, Countdown, and Rage. Students examine the folk revival of the 50s, pub rock of the 70s, reggae, punk, and indie rock of the 80s and 90s as well as the emergence of the multiplicity of styles and expressions that mark the contemporary Australian music scene.

Course Description

This course examines analytical capabilities within GIS, various applications to complex environmental and coastal issues and ethical considerations in using and disseminating geographical information and knowledge. The fundamentals of GIS, spatial modelling and Earth observation will be introduced in the context of environmental and coastal management. Students will build on these foundational concepts through problem-based learning in which GIS methods will be applied to address issues relating to fire and biodiversity, acid sulphate soils, coastal processes and water security.

Course Description
Cryptography is the branch of mathematics that provides the techniques for confidential exchange of information sent via possibly insecure channels. This course introduces the tools that are needed to understand the mathematics underlying the most commonly used modern public key cryptosystems. Topics include the Euclidean Algorithm, Fermat's Little Theorem, the Chinese Remainder Theorem, Möbius Inversion, the RSA Cryptosystem, the Elgamal Cryptosystem, and the Diffie-Hellman Protocol.
