Course Description
This course introduces students to issues relating to the rehabilitation of public offenders including adults (males and females) and youth offenders. Students study the major theories of criminality and community attitudes impacting government approaches to rehabilitation and incarceration policy. This course examines the different approaches and policies to incarceration and the goals of these approaches. Students analyze the roles and functions of personnel employed within the prison system and the various health issues associated with public offender rehabilitation, including drug addiction, mental illness, and HIV/AIDS. Students are also introduced to the probation and parole system and the various alternatives to full-time incarceration, including community service, day release, work release, and weekend detention.

Course Description
This course covers contemporary and historical art made in response to the ebb and flow of daily life and the material conditions of the street, the city, and the home. It explores texts of the art and politics of the everyday and topics related to the 19th through 21st-century theory and practice. Students focus on artists who heighten awareness of the banal and mundane, of the detritus of life, of gendered distinctions between home and city, and the paradoxical revelation of the marvelous in the everyday.

Course Description
University of Sydney welcomes 30 leading business, government, and community organizations to offer real-world projects available for eligible students to apply. The projects champion collaboration across discipline areas and provide rare opportunities to work with major industry partners on real-world problems. The projects are open to all eligible undergraduate students who have completed at least 1.5 years (3 semesters) of full time study. Students work in interdisciplinary groups throughout the semester, in collaboration with the industry partner and academic lead. Groups present their projects to the industry partner at the end of the semester.

Course Description

This course examines the development, diagnosis, and treatment of key mental health conditions across the lifespan, from children through to adults. Beginning with an exploration of how mental health conditions are classified and diagnosed, this course will then discuss what is known about the causes, prevalence and treatments of each of the main psychological disorders, including: anxiety disorders (e.g. generalized anxiety disorder); obsessive compulsive and related disorders; trauma- and stress-related disorders; depressive disorders; eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating); addictive behaviors (drug, alcohol, gambling); psychotic disorders; personality disorders; sexual dysfunctions; ADHD and conduct disorder.

Course Description
This course explores the dynamics of ecological systems, and considers the interactions between individual organisms and populations, organisms and the environment, and ecological processes. Four dominant themes are explored: interactions, evolutionary ecology, the nature of communities, conservation, and management. Emphasis is placed on the quantitative methods in ecology, including sound planning and experimental designs, and on the role of ecological science in the conservation, management, exploitation, and control of populations. Relevant case studies of ecological processes are drawn from marine, freshwater, and terrestrial systems, with plants, animals, fungi, and other life forms.

Course Description
This course introduces students to the big environmental challenges of our time with an emphasis on those related to agriculture. Students learn both the concepts of security (e.g. food, water, soil) and the planetary boundaries of important earth systems. Students examine the physical constraints, ecosystems, and food production systems of Australia and analyze a set of case studies representing key agro-ecosystems. The course has a strong practical emphasis, with computer laboratory sessions introducing students to the analysis of spatial data related to climate, water, and food. This course includes a field trip to regional New South Whales where students gain experience in field-based measurements and exposure to different land management systems.

Course Description
This course explores the literature (in modern English translation) of British civilizartion during the Early Middle Ages- Britons, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, and Normans. Students explore the literature, history, religion, and language of these cultures, focusing on representations of the heroic ideal, as this is embodied in mythic, legendary and historical writing. Texts include BEOWULF, THE WANDERER, selections from the Edda, and early Arthurian material.
